Study Permit

If you plan to study in Canada, there are many options for you. If your course is less than 6 months long, you will only need a visitor visa to come to Canada. However, if you plan to study for more than 6 months you will need to apply for a student visa. You need to make sure that you have an acceptance from a college or university that is a Designated Learning Institution. Please refer to the list to confirm that your choice is on the list. 

 

List of designated learning institutions allowing study permit.

To apply for a study permit, you need:

  • an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)

  • a valid passport or travel document

  • proof that you have enough money to pay for your: tuition fees, living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada and return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada

  • a police certificate

  • a complete a medical exam
